dj andy grant (that’s me!) from dc house grooves will be playing at alongside joe l. and aaron sparks at push at jimmy valentine’s lonely hearts club in washington, dc, this coming saturday, january 28. i’ll be breaking out the vinyl from deep in the vaults for some quality house and disco action. if you’re looking for some quality house grooves this coming saturday night (and a quality selection of fine beers!), head up and join us at jimmy valentine’s.

if you’re not familiar with jimmy valentine’s, it’s the only bar in dc that made playboy magazine’s list of “america’s greatest late night bars”. a little off the beaten trail, but well worth the trip.

we’ve got some good nights coming up in dc this weekend which i figured deserve a mention on dchousegrooves.com.

on friday 8/12, red fridays at u street music hall is hosting doc martin, with support from solomon sanchez. it’s sure to be a blinder, so get yourself down there! you’ll no doubt find me on the dancefloor throwing a few shapes.

then on sunday 8/14, the stranger than paradise crew are throwing another of their awesome sunday’s rooftop parties at tabac on u street, featuring onur ozer, with support from chris nitti, jubilee and navbox. i can’t recommend this party enough… great music, great crowd, great venue….there simply is no better way to spend your sunday afternoon. be prepared and get your advanced tickets on resident advisor.

Stranger Than Paradise at Jimmy Valentine's

If you’re looking for some house music in Washington DC this coming Saturday night, DC House Grooves recommends that you get yourself down to Jimmy Valentine’s for night of quality tunes from the Stranger Than Paradise crew. I’ve not checked out this venue, but I’ve heard good things about it. I went to the last Stranger Than Paradise in October with DJ Jus-Ed supported by Navbox and Rosario, and had a great time. Quality tunes and a fun crowd.  This coming Saturday they’ve got DJ Leks Vargas (aka Leks The Imposter ) on the decks, with Elisa from New York, and I’m sure it’s going to be a fun night all round. If you make it down there, you may even find me throwing some shapes on the dancefloor, JD and Coke in hand
