Thanks to everyone who came out and joined us in the Green Room at Flash last Friday. You were an amazing crowd! It was great to see a bunch of students from Georgetown University coming out to support DC House Grooves. You guys were on the dance floor pretty much open to close, really helping inspire us, making for a very special night! Major thanks to Flash for hosting us, and an extra special thanks to everyone on the Flash team for looking after us and making sure the night ran smoothly. It really makes a difference. Here’s the full recording of the night, over 5.5 hours of underground goodness:
You can catch the DC House Grooves crew again this Saturday on the DC House Grooves show on Underground Quality Radio. Tune in from 10pm ET on the Underground Quality Radio Facebook Page, or the Underground Quality website.
Ok, here are the links to all my Top Picks for this weekend, Thursday through Sunday. Just click the link for each day to view the list over on Facebook.
Highlights for this weekend: Thursday night, head to Playlist with Jubilee, Ramirez & special guest Sarah Myers at Eighteenth Street Lounge. Always the best place for proper deep grooves from talented local DJs on a Thursday night!
On Friday, head to Flash for the legendary Dixon supported by Solomon Sanchez. Also at Flash on Friday, Mazi R & Jus Nowhere bring the heat in the Green Room, while in the bar Jive 100 features Mike Harvey, Eli Cash & James CC dropping the underground joints open to close. I won’t tell a lie, door tax is going to be steep with Dixon on the line up, but you can always groove for free in the bar.
Saturday night, there’s so much good stuff, I don’t even know where to start. I guess I’ll kick things back at Flash, where it’s another edition of our favorite of Flash‘s club nights, Resident Nights. Why is it our favorite? Because Flash hands things over to an all local line up, giving our talented local DJs an opportunity to shine on that amazing Funktion One system. On the club level, Charles Martin and Samantha Francesca return alongside Jacq Jill for what’s sure to be an amazing night of music, while in the Green Room, Tim Glusko, DJ Meegs and Andrew Garcia keep things jumping all night long. In the bar, it’s another edition of Vortex featuring Taylor Hawks, Lyceum and Daasnomem. All locals on all floors!
Down the street at U Street Music Hall, local super stars Ultra Naté & Lisa Moody once again bring that Deep Sugar magic to DC, fresh off their recent trip to Miami. You can be sure they’ll be packing that Miami heat for what’s sure to be another amazing night on the U Hall dance floor!
For those looking for something minimal, underground after hours action, seek out Traces with Herodot (Unanim / Sunrise / Toi Toi) and locals Jubilee & Jus Nowhere at a secret location in DC. This one’s going to be really special, so grab your tickets now!
For quality house music this Sunday, head to Eighteenth Street Lounge for Sam Burns‘ weekly residency, and a very special Sundays Rooftop bringing together the Sunday residents Benoit, Philco & Martín Miguel for night of serious deep grooves on the patio.
For the very best in tech house and techno this Sunday, head next door to the rooftop at Public Bar for Younan Music presents Rooftop Sessions with Stefano Noferini, local hero Saeed Younan and an opening set from Mina. Advanced tickets at just $10, so grab yours now!
That’s everything for this week. Make sure you check all the Top Pick links above. As always, so much going on this week, I don’t have time to do it justice. Wherever you end up, have an amazing time, and you never know, I may well see you on the dance floor.
