Kicking off on Memorial Day Weekend with headliner Gigi Testa (World Peace Music), the series features a line up of top talent from around the world, supported by residents Ramirez, Kochi, Andy Grant & Katrina Mir, along with some of Washington DC’s finest house selectors. Join us on Public Bar’s amazing rooftop deck every other Sunday from 3pm to 2am starting Memorial Day Weekend for Beats Maneuver, the finest in deep, soulful and underground house music. We’ve got a limited number of $5 early birds available, so if you want to reserve your spot on the dance floor, there’s no time like the present 🙂
Beyond Memorial Day, we’ve secured a line up of quality international house music talent, many of whom will be making their debut in the nation’s capital. Just look at who we’ve got lined up May through July! Check DC House Grooves on the regular for more info on Beats Maneuver, including info on advanced tickets and local support.
OK, here are this week’s Top Picks links, listing all the best underground house and electronic music events in and around Washington DC, Thursday through Sunday. Just click the link for each day to see the list. Pro-tip: the good people at El Techo have super talented local DJs every afternoon and evening through the weekend, so that’s always a good bet for quality tunes out in the sunshine.
Thursday night’s highlight for quality, deep, underground house music is Playlist with Jubilee & Ramirez and special guest KayLaSoul at Eighteenth Street Lounge, although the Lobster Theramin 5 Year Anniversary Tour at Ten Tigers Parlour also looks tasty.
Friday night, Flash is the place to be for titans Brawther and Evan Baggs, ably supported on the club level by yours truly, Andy Grant. Get there early for the full experience; I’m gonna be packing some seriously interesting and eclectic records sourced from deep in my extensive record collection, expertly curated to get the best from the Funktion Ones in those early hours, teasing you on to the dance floor so you’re primed and ready when the headline talent takes over. With Marko Peli and John John in the Green Room and Jacq Jill & Outputmessage in the bar, you’ve got three levels of serious quality, all under one roof. I hope you can join us!
Also on Friday night, perhaps my favorite DJ Eddie C is ruling the roost on the patio at Eighteenth Street Lounge. Always on point, and always an educational experience, Eddie C is always worth your time.

Saturday brings this year’s Funk Parade . It almost didn’t happen for 2018, but we’re glad they managed to work it out! As with the past 4 years, the highlight this year is Funky 4 U at Velvet Lounge, brought to you by the same people behind the expertly curated local label Better Listen Records. This year’s edition features the finest funk, soul and whatever else they fancy from heavy hitters such as Tim Zawada, Sol Power All Stars, Martín Miguel, Trev-ski, Graham Hatke, Fleg, Kenny M, Adrian Collazo and so on. Hard to believe we’ve been at it for a full year! Tune in from 10pm using one of the links below for the finest in deep, underground and soulful house from me, Andy Grant, Katrina Mir & Ramirez.
Out on the town on Saturday, I recommend heading back to Flash for the amazing Move D, supported by former DC DJ, now MSP, Solomon Sanchez. In the Green Room, there’s another edition of DJ Nav‘s Uptown House Experience, with the man himself joined by Plastik People Records’ Marc Cotterell, flying all the way from Alberquerque, while Jandro & Keenan Orr keep things jumping in the bar.
This Sunday is all about Sunday Love LLS Fundraiser at Flash, featuring an amazing line up of local talent: J Swink, Heather Femia, Meegs, Rosenberg & Vanniety Kills. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, so you’ll be partying for a great cause. You can also make a donation directly at www.SilvieLining.com. Sunday Love for LLS: you know it makes sense.
Sunday evening, also brings another chance to catch DJ Nav and Marc Cotterell opening things up for Saeed Younan and Anthony Attalla at Public Bar. Always a good time on Sundays at Public!
