Then on Sunday night, in partnership with the good people at Public Bar, we’re kicking off a new event series, the DC House Grooves Local DJ Showcase. The inaugural event features three top local DJs, Katrina Mir, Jubilee and DJ Kochi, spinning the finest underground house, tech house and minimal grooves on the covered rooftop at Public Bar, and best of all, there’s no cover! Please come support us at our first event at Public Bar. If we can make this a success, there’ll be more events showcasing the great local DJ talent DC has to offer.

Almost out of time here, but a quick shout out to a couple of other essential events this weekend. On Friday night, all roads lead to Flash for Back 2 Basics with house legend Lil’ Louis with support form Benoit, with OGs Joe L and LoveGrove in the Green Room and Jacq Jill & Philco in the bar. One serious line up, top to bottom. Lil’ Louis has a real special place in house music history for me; I remember as if it were yesterday hearing Lil’ Louis‘ classic French Kiss for the first time in a club in St Tropez, France in the summer of 1989. It was like nothing I’d ever heard before, and it completely blew me away. Fast forward many years to Detroit in 2013, and DJ Tennis dropped it in his set at TV Lounge, and it had the very same effect. Simply incredible. DC is in for a treat this Friday when Lil Louis graces the decks at Flash, and no mistake. Dress to sweat! Kudos to Flash for the ridiculous quality of the house bookings lately. Keep them coming! Advanced tickets highly recommended.

Saturday night, head to Jimmy Valentine’s Lonely Hearts Club to get down for a great cause, as Jandro, Steve Kirn & DJ Ramirez bring the heat at Reflections to raise money for the Puerto Rico Disaster Fund. It’s gonna be an incredible night at Jimmy’s with these guys at the controls! You never know, there may even be an afters, too, so you can really make a night of it.

Also on Saturday night, if you are in Baltimore or are prepared to make the trip, Deep Sugar is back at Baltimore Soundstage celebrating Ultra Naté‘s birthday at Return to the Emerald City, featuring Black Stereo Faith live and sets from Ultra Naté, Lisa Moody, Quentin Harris, DJ Spen and Mookie Brock. It’s a costume ball, so get decked out in your finest emerald green outfit and get ready to dance! Deep Sugar crowds are always the best, and everyone is welcome. Good vibes guaranteed!
