DC House Grooves Top Picks of the Best Underground House and Electronic Music Events in Washington DC May 3 to May 6

Super fun time going B2B with my better half Katrina Mir in the Green Room at Flash on Friday. As usual, the rooftop was pretty much empty early on, but on the stroke of midnight the dance floor filled up and stayed that way until the music stopped. Huge thanks to the team at Flash for looking after us. We had a blast! You can check out the recording of the night over on the DC House Grooves SoundCloud Page. We stuck to the minimal grooves to start, but then things got interesting!

No gigs for me this weekend; I’ll be too busy on the dance floor celebrating my birthday! However, you can catch Katrina Mir spinning an all vinyl set at Playlist at Eighteenth Street Lounge on Thursday, alongside resident Ramirez, performing a rare extended set.

Right… need to wrap this up quick so I can get on with the business of celebrating my birthday! Yeah, Happy Birthday to me. Way older that I care to admit, and struggling to rationalize my actual age with how old I feel. Definitely old enough to know better, but not prepared to grow up just yet. But I digress. Some big things happening this weekend, and I figured I’d give a shout out to the events where you might just catch me throwing a few shapes in defiance of middle age.

First up, DC’s current go-to rooftop El Techo will be celebrating Cinco de Mayo weekend and the opening up of their rooftop deck with DJs all weekend, Friday through Sunday. Reading like a who’s who of the local electronic music community, you can be sure of great music at El Techo all weekend long. Check the event page below for full details, and be prepared to wait in line for your spot on the rooftop.

Still no Meet the Locals podcast this week. Waiting on a striking sonic extravaganza for episode #69, but I guess there’s no rushing genius! Hopefully I’ll have it in time for next week’s post 🙂 In the mean time, here’s the video of last Saturday’s DC House Grooves  Show on Underground Quality Radio with me, Katrina Mir and special guests  Jubilee Kochi. Sadly Ramirez couldn’t be with us for this episode. He was up in Baltimore getting down to Joaquin “Joe” Claussell, so I can’t  blame him for not being with us. From what I hear Joe delivered straight up fire all night, but I digress. Despite the lack of Ramirez, we had a fun show. Always a good time throwing down with KatrinaJubilee and Kochi! The next DC House Grooves Show is on Saturday April 28. Mark it in your calendar, and tune in from 10pm ET at Underground Quality Radio or the Underground Quality Radio Facebook Page.
