DC House Grooves Top Picks of the Best Underground House and Electronic Music Events in Washington DC April 12 to April 15

Just about back up to speed after another incredible weekend in the District. Katrina Mir and I had a great time throwing down with Sarah Myers and Georg:ev in the Green Room at Flash on Friday. Sounding so good up there after the recent sound upgrades! Thanks for inviting us to plan, Sarah, and thanks as always to the team at Flash for helping everything run smoothly. Always a great time spinning in the Green Room! Saturday night, we headed to El Techo for Ladies of the Underground with Vanniety KillsSabeel Chohan and  Katrina Mir, and the ladies sure delivered! Great sets all round, and despite being completely exhausted from Friday night, my feet were tapping all night long! El Techo has got some great DJs line up in the coming weeks, and it’s an amazing intimate rooftop space with a Balearic friends and family vibe… and did I mention the food? So damn good. Pro-tip: leave some room for dessert. The flan is incredible!  This Friday evening, catch Omar Strikestone!  at El Techo. Then on Saturday afternoon, be sure to check out the  Preview boys  Jon_MFD and Christauff, then stick around for The Jones Boys (Aaron SparksRich Thomas), then on Sunday afternoon, head back to the for the wonderful Heather Femia. Every one a winner! Keep an eye out for more events at El Techno in the coming weeks and months, showcasing the best local DJ talent DC has to offer.

Before I get into this week’s Top Picks, a quick heads up re: the return of Uncle Benny’s next week. Next Friday 4/20, Uncle Benny’s brings Detroit don Rick Wilhite to their new spot at The Dew Drop Inn in Northeast. With support from Hot Coffee and Benoit, this one’s gonna be another one for the books! There’s no time like the present to grab your tickets, even more so, as DC House Grooves has a super special 20% discount.

DC House Grooves Top Picks of the Best Underground House and Electronic Music Events in Washington DC February 8 to February 11

OK, back in the saddle after last week’s run in with the flu. That shit was no joke; took me out of action completely for a whole week, and I’m still not quite 100%. In last week’s abbreviated post, I neglected to mention a seriously cool party from the previous weekend, LENGINN(er)NET‘s shindig with DJ Lag on January 26. Great vibe, great crowd, plenty of raw energy in that room, with the Grand Ancestor system being worked to the max. Kudos to everyone involved for a great party. The LENG crew are at it again this weekend with some off the grid house party vibes featuring Dis Fig, all the way from from Berlin. RSVP here for location & info.

Katrina Mir and I will be holding down the bar at Flash on Friday night as party of an epic lineup including Paranoid LondonDerek PlaslaikoSteve Kirn, Detroit’s Alton Miller  Benoit. That’s one serious Friday night line up! Hope you can join us in the bar for at least some of the evening 🙂 Advanced tickets highly recommended.
