Huge thanks to everyone who joined us in the Flash Bar on Saturday for the second part of our DC House Grooves 4 Year Anniversary celebration. It’s always kinda slow in the bar, but as always the last hour or two was crazy! Let’s face it, with Patrice Scott and Benoit in the Green Room and Giles Smith & James Priestly of Secretsundaze on the club level, there was tough competition for dancers, so I don’t think we did too badly. A testament to the world class quality talent Flash is booking, week in, week out. Big thanks to the team at Flash for inviting us to play. Katrina and I truly appreciate it. Massive thanks also to Vanniety Kills for inviting me to play at The House That U Built at El Techo on Sunday, to the whole team at El Techo, and to all the dancers who joined us on the rooftop. After an amazing set from Juana, I had a really special time breaking out the soulful house and disco as the sun set on a beautiful day! Thank you so much to everyone involved. Hoping to post the recording soon! Look out for the next The House That U Built with Vanniety Kills, Sam Burns and Kochi coming up in August.
The big news announced this week is the Blispop Disco Fest coming up on August 31 and September 1 at 9:30 Club and U Street Music Hall, featuring a line up to die for, with Giorgio Moroder, Claptone, Holy Ghost, Horsemeat Disco, Ultra Naté, Nancy Whang, François K, Juan Maclean, Jacques Renault and locals Eau Claire, Charles Feelgood, the Sleaze DJs, Ozker & Will Eastman. How many legit legends on that line up? A serious weekend of music right there! The only problem now is deciding whether to attend the 9:30 Club line up or the U Street Music Hall line up. Now, with line ups of that calibre, it ain’t going to be cheap, but if you move fast, you can grab discounted 2 day passes for both the 9:30 Club and U Street Music Hall.
Better move fast, though! Discounted passes go off sale Thursday July 12 at 9am!
Back to this weekend, and we here at DC House Grooves have some big news of our own. This Sunday we’re partnering with Roots & Spirits, Vibe and Public Bar for another edition of Beats Maneuver, and this Sunday we’ve got an epic line up featuring Chicago’s DJ Heather with support from Team Zapata and residents Kochi & Katrina Mir. This one’s shaping up to be the best one yet, and we couldn’t be more excited! Proper house music, rooftop vibes, and best of all, it’s completely FREE! That’s right, no cover all night long for a line up of top class talent. Doesn’t get much better! The needle drops at 6pm…see you there, bright and early, and let’s see in the new week on the dance floor!

Saturday night’s highlight is an epic double header from Flash & Nomad featuring a serious line up of musical talent. Kicking things off at Flash, the V.sions Pre-Party features Berlin’s Thomas Melchior & Taimur Agha headline the club level with support from Navbox, while Mazi R & Jubilee hold things down open to close in the Green Room and Steve Kirn & Juana keep the vibe locked in the bar.
Then for afters, all roads lead to the warehouse for Noman & DNT present V.sions with Molly, DJ Masda, Navbox, Taiga & special guests delivering the goods on the banging Grand Ancestor Sound System until sunrise and possibly beyond. Always a good time at the warehouse! Serious business all round.
For something a bit more intimate on Saturday night, check out DJ LoveGrove‘s birthday throwdown at Jimmy Valentine’s Lonely Hearts Club, featuring LoveGrove himself with support from Lexus King and Guillermo Giraldo. The perfect choice for quality tunes away from the crowds.
Another great option for Saturday night is Summer Solstice Part 2 with Shelter‘s Mark Francis bringing the heat alongside Andrew Hogans and Chosen at The Meeting Place Restaurant & Lounge. The party kicks off at 7pm and runs until 3am. Real house music for the heads.
