Posting a day early for Thanksgiving, this week’s DC House Grooves Top Picks features all the best underground house and techno events in Washington DC from Thanksgiving Eve through Sunday; everything you need to know to get your groove on through the holiday weekend. So whether you’re sticking around for the holiday, or visiting town for the weekend, we’ve got everything you need to make informed dance floor decisions!
We’ve just about recovered from last weekend’s double header at Flash. I had a great time warming up the floor for Micfreak and Mike Huckaby on Friday night, then Katrina Mir absolutely destroyed the club level with an amazing, take no prisoners, all vinyl closing set that left the room wanting more! Huge thanks to the whole crew at Flash for looking after us both and making sure everything ran smoothly. You guys always treat us right, and we really appreciate it.
If you weren’t in the room on Saturday, make sure you catch Katrina Mir next time she’s behind the decks. Once she gets going, you won’t be able to stop dancing! Sadly, we didn’t manage to record her set from Saturday, but we successfully captured my open set from Friday, which you can check out on the DC House Grooves SoundCloud page.
This weekend, you can catch me, Andy Grant, Katrina Mir and Ramirez again this Saturday November 30th on another edition of the DC House Grooves Show on Underground Quality Radio. We’re be going in again from 10pm ET, serving up the finest underground jams fresh from the wax. Tune in at www.undergroundquality.com or dchousegrooves.com
Highlights for this weekend include Give Thanks with Arthur Kimskii, Samantha Francesca and Team Zapata at Jimmy’s on Thanksgiving Eve, Carlo Lio and Saeed Younan raising money for worthy causes at Flash on Thanksgiving, the PLUR GOAT himself Frankie Bones at U Street Music Hall on Friday, Blend at U Street Music Hall and Deep Sugar at Club 1722 in Baltimore on Saturday, and The Joon Bros, Feroun, Jus Nowhere and Mazi at El Techo and Sam Burns at Eighteenth Street Lounge on Sunday. But what do I know? Check out the full listings below, Wednesday through Sunday, and choose your dance floor! Wherever you end up, I hope you have a very happy Thanksgiving, and if you’re free Saturday night, tune in to the DC House Grooves Show.
