Big respect to everyone who joined us at Eighteenth Street Lounge last Thursday to celebrate my birthday at Playlist. Now that was a fun time! On to this weekend, and we here at DC House Grooves are super excited, because the founder of the Underground Quality record label and Underground Quality Radio where we broadcast our regular show, DJ Jus-Ed, is coming to town! In anticipation of his performance at Sundays Rooftop at Eighteenth Street Lounge on Sunday, Jus-Ed will be joining us in the DC House Grooves studio on Saturday night for a very special edition of the DC House Grooves Show with residents Andy Grant, Ramirez and Katrina Mir, and special guest Jus-Ed. Other highlights this weekend include Black Motion with Jandro at U Street Music Hall, and, of course, Playlist with Jubilee & Ramirez at Eighteenth Street Lounge on Thursday, then on Friday Sprüdel with Vincent Neumann, Juana b2b Arthur Kimskii and Rush Plus is the move for top quality techno with friends and family in an intimate warehouse space. Just remember, advance tickets are required, and it’s BYOB.

Also on Friday, Flash: OFF features Damien Lazarus & Adriatique with locals Sarah Myers, Markinthedark and Mazi R. Flash warehouse parties always deliver the goods, with high production values and four point sound system in a brand new warehouse space. Advance tickets recommended.

Saturday’s highlight is this year’s Funk Parade. If you’re in the U Street area Saturday afternoon, make sure you head to the annual Funky 4 U at Velvet Lounge. Always an amazing line up of locals bringing the funk out in the back yard. Saturday night, I recommend heading to Baltimore for Underground Resistance‘s John Jammin Collins at Darkroom, or Deep Sugar with Ultra Naté & Lisa Moody at Factory 17. Spoiled for choice!

Sunday afternoon, Sunday Love at Flash is always a good time, then we’ll see you on the patio at Eighteenth Street Lounge for Sundays Rooftop with DJ Jus-Ed and Benoit.

You catch a slice of DC House Grooves this Friday night at everyone’s favorite speakeasy, Allegory at Eaton, with Katrina Mir at the controls 10pm to close. Get there early, as it fills up fast! Come hang out for a few drinks as Katrina provides the a quality soundtrack.

UPDATE: Our friends at the Grand Ancestor warehouse are having a fundraiser in the early hours of Saturday morning, kicking off at 1am with music from Tommy Cornelis, Hot Coffee and Team Zapata. What better way to help keep the lights on and get the rent paid at the best late night spot in town than dancing until sunrise to an all star local line up working the majestic Grand Ancestor sound system. Advance tickets are $20 on eventbrite, and you can make extra donations if you so choose. Always a good time at the spot, and you’ll be helping keeping things going. To be clear, there are no . tickets at the door! You must have an eventbrite ticket to attend.

Just a quick post this week. First up, a quick reminder about the triumphant return of Late Night Mischief next weekend on Saturday February 23 with Berlin’s Session Victim and Martín Miguel putting the mighty Grand Ancestor 2.0 Sound System to work in a cool warehouse space. It’s a ticket only event, so make sure you grab your $20 tickets before the price goes up. I’ve got a feeling this one will be a bit special, so don’t sleep!
