DC House Grooves Top Picks of the Best Underground House and Techno Events in Washington DC Thanksgiving Edition November 27 to December 1

Posting a day early for Thanksgiving, this week’s DC House Grooves Top Picks features all the best underground house and techno events in Washington DC from Thanksgiving Eve through Sunday; everything you need to know to get your groove on through the holiday weekend. So whether you’re sticking around for the holiday, or visiting town for the weekend, we’ve got everything you need to make informed dance floor decisions!

We’ve just about recovered from last weekend’s double header at Flash. I had a great time warming up the floor for Micfreak and Mike Huckaby on Friday night, then Katrina Mir absolutely destroyed the club level with an amazing, take no prisoners, all vinyl closing set that left the room wanting more! Huge thanks to the whole crew at Flash for looking after us both and making sure everything ran smoothly. You guys always treat us right, and we really appreciate it.

If you weren’t in the room on Saturday, make sure you catch Katrina Mir next time she’s behind the decks. Once she gets going, you won’t be able to stop dancing! Sadly, we didn’t manage to record her set from Saturday, but we successfully captured my open set from Friday, which you can check out on the DC House Grooves SoundCloud page.

This weekend, you can catch me, Andy Grant, Katrina Mir and Ramirez again this Saturday November 30th on another edition of the DC House Grooves Show on Underground Quality Radio. We’re be going in again from 10pm ET, serving up the finest underground jams fresh from the wax. Tune in at www.undergroundquality.com or dchousegrooves.com

But what do I know? Check out the full listings below, Wednesday through Sunday, and choose your dance floor! Wherever you end up, I hope you have a very happy Thanksgiving, and if you’re free Saturday night, tune in to the DC House Grooves Show.

DC House Grooves Top Picks of the Best Underground House and Techno Events in Washington DC May 9 to May 12

Big respect to everyone who joined us at Eighteenth Street Lounge last Thursday to celebrate my birthday at Playlist. Now that was a fun time! Big thanks to Jubilee & Ramirez for inviting me to play and to all the staff at Eighteenth Street Lounge for their hospitality. Always a pleasure playing at ESL.

On to this weekend, and we here at DC House Grooves are super excited, because the founder of the Underground Quality record label and Underground Quality Radio where we broadcast our regular show, DJ Jus-Ed, is coming to town! In anticipation of his performance at Sundays Rooftop at Eighteenth Street Lounge on Sunday, Jus-Ed will be joining us in the DC House Grooves studio on Saturday night for a very special edition of the DC House Grooves Show with residents Andy Grant, Ramirez and Katrina Mir, and special guest Jus-Ed. Tune in from 10pm ET at www.undergroundquality.com or at Underground Quality Live.

Other highlights this weekend include Black Motion with Jandro at U Street Music Hall, and, of course, Playlist with Jubilee & Ramirez at Eighteenth Street Lounge on Thursday, then on Friday Sprüdel with Vincent Neumann, Juana b2b Arthur Kimskii and Rush Plus is the move for top quality techno with friends and family in an intimate warehouse space. Just remember, advance tickets are required, and it’s BYOB.

Also on Friday, Flash: OFF features Damien Lazarus & Adriatique with locals Sarah Myers, Markinthedark and Mazi R. Flash warehouse parties always deliver the goods, with high production values and four point sound system in a brand new warehouse space. Advance tickets recommended.

Saturday’s highlight is this year’s Funk Parade. If you’re in the U Street area Saturday afternoon, make sure you head to the annual Funky 4 U at Velvet Lounge. Always an amazing line up of locals bringing the funk out in the back yard. Saturday night, I recommend heading to Baltimore for Underground Resistance‘s John Jammin Collins at Darkroom, or Deep Sugar with Ultra Naté & Lisa Moody at Factory 17. Spoiled for choice!

DC House Grooves Top Picks of the Best Underground House and Techno Events in Washington DC April 4 to April 7

Another amazing, action packed weekend on the dance floor right here in the District of Corruption, and DC House Grooves has the low down on all the good shit. The highlight for this week is Friday night’s jam at the Darkroom in Baltimore featuring two of my favorites all the way from Detroit, Tag aka Scott Grooves and Norm Talley, with support from Feroun and Benoit, brought to you by Kowli Records and Deep Secrets. This one is going to be really special, and to celebrate, DC House Grooves has the super special Uncle Benny discount for you. Use the link below to buy your tickets to get massive 20% discount off advance tickets. That’s one serious discount off the party to be at this weekend! It’s a BYOB joint, the needle drops at 11pm and you’ll be dancing until sunrise. Don’t sleep on this one, people!

20% discount off TAG aka Scott Grooves & Norm Talley at Darkroom, Baltimore

If you can’t make the trip to Baltimore this Friday, then head to Focus at Flash for another incredible Friday night line up featuring the very best of techno, house and bougie / funk / soul / electro. On the main floor, catch The Advent aka G Flame with support from local hero, Technofist‘s Damon Bradley. In the Green Room, former Beats Maneuver headliner Gigi Testa brings the very best of house and disco ably supported by DC House Grooves show resident Ramirez, while in the bar, Trev-ski is joined by Haz & Cam-Run for another edition of Modern Class. An epic line up that’s not to be missed! Advance tickets are just $12, so grab yours now!

Before I get into the full list for this weekend, here’s the recording of Saturday night’s DC House Grooves Show #045 on Underground Quality Radiofeaturing me, Andy Grant, and Katrina Mir. Sadly Ramirez couldn’t join us for this one, and we ended up going deeper, dubbier and techier than usual. Seems to be the direction we end up going when Katrina and I go B2B. Check it out below either on SoundCloud or YouTube. We’ll back back with DC House Grooves Show Episode #046 on Saturday April 13 at 10pm. Mark it in your calendars and tune in for the very best in underground vibes served up fresh from the wax.

Other highlights for this weekend include Playlist with Jubilee & Ramirez at Eighteenth Street Lounge and Sleaze‘s second anniversary at Wonderland on Thursday, then on Saturday, the Sequence crew are at it again with a serious line up including Umfang, Akua & Juana (Discwoman) and Furtive. Sequence events are always on point, and they pretty much always sell out, so if you’re thinking of going, don’t waste time; grab your tickets now! They’re on the final release tier, and there won’t be any tickets on the door, so now is your chance. Don’t say I didn’t warn you! It’s a BYOB joint, so make sure you bring what you need with you.

Plenty of great choices on Sunday, with Sunday Love featuring Madmotormique, Daniel Cowel and Marko Peli and the new Love Bazaar on the main floor, and at Eighteenth Street Lounge, Sam Burns‘ weekly residency, Smudge and Hold Tight with Admin and Martín Miguel, but for the true house heads, the place to be this Sunday is Baltimore for the pop up party featuring the legendary Master at Work himself, Louie Vega along with Teddy Douglas and DJ Spen. Tickets are just $20.
