Another big weekend here in the District, and DC House Grooves has everything you need to plan your weekend on the dance floor. It’s an especially big weekend for us, as we’re celebrating the 50th episode of the DC House Grooves Show on Berlin’s Underground Quality Radio. We’ve been broadcasting every other Saturday for nearly two years now, and with each show, the vibe’s been getting stronger. For episode #50, we’ve put together something a little bit special. Joining me, Ramirez and Katrina Mir in the studio is none other than DC legend Sam “The Man” Burns (Underground Soul Solution, Eighteenth Street Lounge), along withthe amazingly talented Candice Mills on live vocals. We’re honored to have two powerhouse local talents joining us to help us celebrate a very special occasion. But wait, there’s more! We’ll be giving away two FREE copies of the latest release on Underground Quality, the Jus-Me EP by DJ Jus-Ed which were dropped off at the studio when the man himself visited a couple of weeks ago.
Tune in to the show at 10pm ET on Saturday for a chance to win. I’ll be telling you how right before Sam Burns gets on the decks. For reminder to tune in, click the Set Reminder button in the YouTube embed below.
Before I get into the other festivities for this weekend, a quick reminder to buy your tickets for Late Night Mischief on Saturday June 22, with as fantastic line up featuring DJ Aakmael, DJ Nav and a closing set from our very own Katrina Mir. Late Night Mischief parties always deliver a thick vibe, and with DJ Nav setting the tone, DJ Aakmael taking things to the next level, and Katrina Mir keeping you grooving until sunrise, I can guarantee this one’s gonna be just a little bit special. Advance tickets are just $15, which is steal for a line up of this caliber. Remember, no tickets on the door, so you might as well buy yours now.
So what about this weekend? A major feature here in Washington DC this weekend is the 6 year anniversary of Flash nightclub, and to celebrate, they’ve put together yet another epic line up of world class talent, international and local, and each night they’ll be kicking off the evening with a complimentary glass of champagne. I can’t believe it has been six years since Flash opened its doors. I, for one, have so many great memories at the club, both on the dance floor and behind the decks. Check the flyers below for the full line up, Thursday through Sunday. Each night looks amazing, like a weekend music festival, all under one roof.
Another event deserving a mention this weekend is Deep Tech presents Hazmat Live this with support from Mina and Baronhawk Poitier at an exclusive warehouse location in northwest DC this Friday night. Detroit’s Hazmat in always on point, so it’s great to see him back here in the District! Advance tickets are $25 from Eventbrite. Grab yours now before the price goes up!
See below for flyers for all the good stuff this weekend, Thursday through Sunday. So many great events to choose from! Whatever you do, make sure you set a reminder & tune in to the DC House Grooves Showon Saturday, and try and stop by Flash at some point over the weekend and raise a glass to celebrate their 6 year anniversary! See you on the dance floor.

Big respect to everyone who joined us at Eighteenth Street Lounge last Thursday to celebrate my birthday at Playlist. Now that was a fun time! Big thanks to Jubilee & Ramirez for inviting me to play and to all the staff at Eighteenth Street Lounge for their hospitality. Always a pleasure playing at ESL.
On to this weekend, and we here at DC House Grooves are super excited, because the founder of the Underground Quality record label and Underground Quality Radio where we broadcast our regular show, DJ Jus-Ed, is coming to town! In anticipation of his performance at Sundays Rooftop at Eighteenth Street Lounge on Sunday, Jus-Ed will be joining us in the DC House Grooves studio on Saturday night for a very special edition of the DC House Grooves Show with residents Andy Grant, Ramirez and Katrina Mir, and special guest Jus-Ed. Tune in from 10pm ET at www.undergroundquality.com or at Underground Quality Live.
Then on Sunday night, head to the patio at Eighteenth Street Lounge to catch the man himself throwing down with Benoit at another edition of Sundays Rooftop. No cover, so no excuses! I can’t think of a better way to close out the weekend.
Other highlights this weekend include Black Motion with Jandro at U Street Music Hall, and, of course, Playlist with Jubilee & Ramirez at Eighteenth Street Lounge on Thursday, then on Friday Sprüdel with Vincent Neumann, Juana b2b Arthur Kimskii and Rush Plus is the move for top quality techno with friends and family in an intimate warehouse space. Just remember, advance tickets are required, and it’s BYOB.
Also on Friday, Flash: OFF features Damien Lazarus & Adriatique with locals Sarah Myers, Markinthedark and Mazi R. Flash warehouse parties always deliver the goods, with high production values and four point sound system in a brand new warehouse space. Advance tickets recommended.
Saturday’s highlight is this year’s Funk Parade. If you’re in the U Street area Saturday afternoon, make sure you head to the annual Funky 4 U at Velvet Lounge. Always an amazing line up of locals bringing the funk out in the back yard. Saturday night, I recommend heading to Baltimore for Underground Resistance‘s John Jammin Collins at Darkroom, or Deep Sugar with Ultra Naté & Lisa Moody at Factory 17. Spoiled for choice!
Sunday afternoon, Sunday Love at Flash is always a good time, then we’ll see you on the patio at Eighteenth Street Lounge for Sundays Rooftop with DJ Jus-Ed and Benoit.
Plenty more to choose from this weekend! See below for my full list of DC House Grooves Top Picks, featuring all the best underground house and electronic music events in and around Washington DC this weekend, Thursday through Sunday. See you on the dance floor!
