DC House Grooves Top Picks of the Best Underground House and Techno Events in Washington DC November 14 to November 17

Apologies to anyone who checked DC House Grooves last week for your weekend listings. Had too much on my plate last week, so took a week off. Back again this week, feeling refreshed after an amazing time dancing to Theo Parrish at Darkroom in Baltimore last Saturday. It was amazing to see all the heads out in force to hear a true master throwing down, open to close. It really was as good as it gets! Kudos to Feroun and the rest of the Darkroom crew for curating another amazing event.

Before I get into this week’s listings, a quick heads up: next Saturday, November 23, Flash is hosting another edition of Resident Nights, where locals take over all three floors of the club. On the club level, our very own Katrina Mir will be throwing down an all vinyl set alongside Peter Kaufmann and Kaylasoul, while in the Green Room, Sam Burns brings the heat with support from Just Chad and Kochi and Jandro hold things down in the bar. It is finally here! This weekend, we’re heading out of town to get spooky at The Get Down Halloween Adventure! A small underground festival just an hour by car from DC, The Get Down features an amazing local line up from a whole bunch of different crews, a haunted house, costume contest, meditation and a whole lot more. Andy Grant, Katrina Mir and Kochi are all on the line up, as well as friends of the family Damon Bradley, Heather Femia, Symmetrical and many more. Best of all, The Get Down is a no-bullshit, non-commercial festival, a proper gathering of heads for the love of the music, with a bit of Halloween fun in the mix. Before I get into the listings for this weekend, major thanks to everyone who came out to Flash last Friday and celebrated Katrina Mir‘s birthday with us! What an incredible night in the Green Room! I don’t think we’ve had a better night a Flash in all the years we’ve been played there. Thanks also to the whole team at Flash, to the management for booking us, and to all the bar and security staff for making sure everything went smoothly. We can’t wait to do it again! Before I get into this week’s listings, a quick word about Capital House Music Festival 2019, which is taking place again this year in Malcolm X Park on Labor Day, September 2. DC House Grooves is proud to be taking part in this event, with Andy Grant and Katrina Mir joining an all local line up of house all-stars including Chosen, Tee Alford, DJ Tantra, Benoit, DJ Jay Jay and Sam “The Man” Burns, with live performances by Dannis Winston, Worldtown Soundsystems and Muzikal Dunk. The event runs from noon until dusk, and admission is FREE. Whatever your plans for Labor Day Weekend, make sure you join us in the park for quality house grooves to close out your weekend.
