I’ve had to hang up my dancing shoes for a while due to injury, but hopefully I’ll be back on my feet again by Saturday for Beats Maneuver in the Green Room at Flash with my homies Katrina Mir, Ramirez and Kochi. Always a fun time throwing down in the Green Room with the crew! On the main floor, the legendary DJ Sneak will be working theroom with support from Hugo Zapata, while Jandro and Samantha Francesca keep it real in the Flash Bar. Quality ingredients for a delicious night on the dance floor! Tickets are selling fast, but you can still pick up second release tickets for $12.
For a taste of me, Katrina Mir and Ramirez in action behind the decks, check out the video of our recent DC House Grooves Show on Underground Quality Radio below. Two hours of quality underground jams served up fresh from the wax. Hit play and enjoy!
OK here are this week’s Top Picks. Have fun out there, stay safe, and I’ll see you back here next week, same time, same place.
With Halloween just about in the rear view mirror, it’s time to start thinking about the weekend. Good thing there’s another action packed line up of events right here in DC to keep you dancing Thursday through Sunday! We’re super excited about Beats Maneuver‘s partnership with Late Night Mischief crew, Late NightManeuvers, this Friday November 2. We’ll be taking over an intimate warehouse space in northeast DC and bringing the one and only Turtle Bugg (Sublimate) down from Detroit to really show us who’s boss behind the decks. A true DJs DJ, we can’t wait to hear what he’s got waiting for us in his record bag!
With the Beats Maneuver resident DJs on support, you can be sure of a musical evening to remember; Kochi will be warming things up, kicking off with the slow jams, teasing you on to the dance floor. Next, me (Andy Grant), Ramirez and Katrina Mir will be dialing things up with one of our epic back to back to back sets, the three of us feeding off each other’s energy for a fantastic, vibe filled journey. We’ll be priming the floor perfectly for Turtle Bugg to take over and keep things jumping until the morning comes. And did I mention we’ll be working the Grand Ancestor 2.0 Sound System? Not only that, we’ll be powered by the amazing Bozak AR6 Mixer for a fully analog signal path from the turntables to the speakers. Sound quality matters, and we’re going to be working hard to make sure the system sounds as good as can be, bathing you in warm analog goodness for an immersive experience that you won’t soon forget. There are still a limited number of $10 early bird tickets available on Resident Advisor, after which standard advance tickets are $15. On the night, entry will be FREE before 12am, $20 from 12am to 2am, then $30 after 2am. However, if you RSVP at http://bit.ly/TBUGGRSVP, you can get in for $20 all night. If you’re not sure if you can make it, might as well RSVP now to lock in the $20 rate.
Oh, and did I mention our advance ticket prize draw? Beats Maneuver is giving away a FREE, Near Mint copy of Luxuru by Ronin from 2002 on the highly sought after Driftwood record label worth well over $60 to one lucky winner. For a chance to win, just buy an advance ticket to Late Night Maneuvers featuring Turtle Bugg (Sublimate). Each ticket purchased gets you one entry into the prize draw. One ticket, one entry. Two tickets, two entries, and so on. We’ll pick the winner at 6pm on Friday November 2 at 6pm, and the winner can collect their prize at the event. So, what are you waiting for? Grab your advance tickets now to an amazing party now, and you might just win a super rare and valuable record.
Fast forward to Sunday, and you can catch our very own Katrina Mir on the line up at Saeed Younan‘s Rooftop Sessions at Public Bar alongside Sydney Blu, Heather Femia, Sabeel Chohan and Eric Marcantonio. It’s going to be another amazing night of super talented DJs on the rooftop at Public Bar, and you can catch Katrina Mir from 9pm. $10 early bird tickets still available. Grab yours now!
Before I get into the rest of the top picks for this weekend, I want to give a big shout out to the ROAM crew who are celebrating 5 years of quality underground events next Friday, November 9, with the ROAM V Year Anniversary, featuring none other than Ben UFO and Lauren Ritter with support from ROAM residents DJ Lisa Frank, Sami, Rush Plus, Jett Chandon and Taiga. Just the right balance of headliners to locals 🙂 To celebrate this very special anniversary, DC House Grooves has partnered with ROAM to give away a pair of FREE tickets worth $50 to one lucky winner. For a chance to win, click the link below and fill out the form to enter the draw. We’ll pick the winner at 5pm on Friday November 9, and will let them know at the email address provided. Please make sure you use your real name as shown on your ID and a valid email address! You’ll need to show your ID to claim your prize, so that name better match!
If you don’t feel like leaving things up to chance, if you move fast, there are still some $20 first release tickets available, but don’t hang around, they won’t last long. Here’s to many more years of ROAM!

Sunday night, we’ll be supporting Katrina Mir and the Rooftop Sessions crew at Public Bar, but Eighteenth Street Lounge is always worth checking out for quality house and disco each and every Sunday.
