Big weekend for the DC House Grooves crew this weekend! On Friday, we’re celebrating Katrina Mir‘s birthday with a crew throw down in the Green Room at Flash as part of another amazing Focus line up, featuring Derek Plaslaiko and Mozhgan on the club level and Neko Berg and Browz & Schwander in the bar. OK, so remember a few weeks back I posted about the 5 year anniversary of DC House Grooves Top Picks? Well, we’re finally getting around to celebrating! Join me, Andy Grant, Ramirez, Katrina Mir and Kochi this Friday at El Techo for the DC House Grooves 5 Year Anniversary celebration, the perfect way to get your Friday night off to a great start. If you’re familiar with El Techo, then you know the drill. Quality eats with serious beats are the order of the day, all washed down with some amazing summer cocktails. Before I get into this week’s listings, a quick mention of a forthcoming event from Grand Ancestor, Roam, Sequence, Sticky Fingers Collective, Sleaze, Team Zapata and TNX billed as DC24. On September 20th and 21st, the above mentioned crews are getting together for an epic 24 hour event featuring a killer line up of local talent, a warehouse party overnight with a day party on the Saturday, kicking off at 10pm, and keeping the grooves going until 10pm the next day. Great to see all the crews getting together for such an epic event! Advanced tickets are available now, and you can see the full line up below. Hopefully it will be an huge success and DC House Grooves will be invited to join in the fun for the next DC24 😉

Kicking off this week’s post with news of an amazing event coming up in September from Blisspop and U Street Music Hall, Blisspop Disco Fest, which features an incredible line up from across the wide disco spectrum, including Chromeo, The Black Madonna, Cerrone, Jellybean Benitez, RAC, DaM-Funk, Crazy P, Robotaki, Le Youth, DJ Boring, Session Victim, Honey Sound System, The Blackbyrds, Josey Rebelle, Eli Escobar, Deep Sugar (Wayne Davis & Lisa Moody), Sam The Man Burns and a whole host of locals, including yours truly, Andy Grant. I’m honored to be setting the mood for the event at U Street Music Hall with Cerrone, Jellybean Benitez, The Blackbyrds, DJ Boring, Honey Sound System and Eli Escobar. Just got back from the UK and scrambling to catch up with everything, so just a drive by post this week. See below for the line ups for Flash and Eighteenth Street Lounge this weekend, then my full list of Top Picks for the weekend, Thursday through Sunday. Highlights include Playlist with Jubilee & Ramirez at Eighteenth Street Lounge on Thursday, then on Friday Flash has an absolutely epic line up with Zip, Thomas Melchior Navbox and Kaufman in the main room, Jenifa Mayanja and our very own Katrina Mir in the Green Room and Cadence with Seany Ranks and Rubble in the Flash Bar.
