Due to flooding at DC House Grooves HQ, Saturday’s DC House Grooves Show with Juana is cancelled. We’ll reschedule as soon as we’re all dried out and fixed up! Don’t worry, all the records and equipment are safe.
Need to get through this quickly this week, as I’m off to play at Tiger Bomb at Ten Tigers Parlour tonight with Katrina Mir, and I still haven’t packed my record bag! If you’re reading this on Thursday morning, too bad, you missed it. If you’re reading this on Wednesday night, then hurry on over to Ten Tigers Parlour for quality hump day underground grooves. Tiger Bomb at Ten Tigers is the go to spot for curing those midweek blues with a spot of dance floor therapy. Check the full April line up:
As I mentioned last week, on Saturday afternoon I’m spinning with local hero Sam “The Man” Burns on a boat sailing down the Potomac river. The Sam Burns Boat Party Featuring Andy Grant sets sail from Georgetown at 3.30pm on Saturday. Tickets are limited and have been selling fast, but there are still a few left, including combined tickets for the boat and the after party at DC9 Nigthclub. Even better, DC House Grooves has an exclusive 20% discount. Just click the link below to apply the discount, and I’ll see you on the boat!

Thursday brings the next adventure for the Grand Ancestor sound system and Grand Ancestor x Bassline Business presents Vivek & Malleus at The DC Eagle, which promises to be one for the books. For the last couple of weeks, DC House Grooves has been offering a chance to win a pair of free tickets to one lucky winner, and I’m pleased to announce that winner, selected entirely at random, is Amit Nandy. Just show up and show your ID at the door for free entry for you and a guest! If you didn’t win, don’t worry, you can still buy advanced tickets for just $10, or you can pay $15 at the door.
Looking beyond this weekend, news of a few warehouse joints that you should have on your radar. Next weekend brings the annual Code 13 party celebrating Denis Bejan‘s birthday, and this year he’s put together an incredible lineup featuring French minimal masters Zendid with support from local superstars Navbox, Lisa Frank, Chris Nitti and Taiga. Doesn’t get much better than that! Advanced tickets are $15, more on the door.
The following night, April 15, brings another sublime slice of underground after hours techno at Sequence.415 with Patrick Russell, Aphreaq, Ben Jenkins, Associate aka Boss Ross and Ledroit. Advanced tickets are $15, more on the door.

Another party you need know about is Midnight Project in Baltimore with the legendary Joe Claussell performing a six hour set with support from Benoit & Feroun. The last Midnight Project with Joe was the stuff of legend, culminating with the man himself joining us on the dance floor at 9am after an unbelievable musical journey. Believe me, you won’t want to miss this one! To add to the magic, Eddie C is also in Baltimore earlier that same night with support from one of my favorite locals Joe L and Sticky Fingers Collective‘s HOT COFFEE, and you can buy a combination ticket to both events for just $25. But wait…That’s not all! Use the link below to get a 15% discount. DC House Grooves is always looking out for you!
One last thing before I get to this week’s listings, mark May 12 in your calendar, as that’s the date of Flash‘s recently announced mystery event Flash [OFF]. As of now, the line up is a mystery; all we know is it’s at a brand new warehouse space in the District. Flash‘s events are always pretty special, so if you know what’s good for you, you’ll grab the $20 Tickets of Trust. Flash‘s special events always feature well curated, top tier international and local talent. Don’t sleep, though! Once the line up goes public, the price goes up.

Lots to get through this week, so let’s not waste time. Huge thanks to everyone who came out to groove with me and Katrina Mir at Body Werk in the Flash Bar on Friday. It was certainly one of the more memorable nights we’ve had, and the last couple of hours were so much fun. Look out for a podcast featuring a recording of those last two hours… coming soon! Sadly I missed Midnight Project and Kowli‘s party with Omar S on Saturday night, but I heard it was one for the books! Hopefully I’ll get to catch Omar next time he is in town, but in the meantime, I can’t wait to see what’s next from the Midnight Project team!
Before I get into things for this weekend, I want to give a mention to a fundraiser by the Beatbox DC team. As regular DC House Grooves readers will know, I recently DJed for the Beatbox DC team on their ambulance at the H Street Festival. Well, last week, some cowardly, criminally minded psychopath set an improvised thermite charge on the ambulance under cover of night, the resulting fire completely destroying it. Fortunately, no one was hurt, but the damage could have been so much greater. Our community cannot let such cowardly behavior put a stop to the positive work of the Beatbox DC team, so I encourage you all to donate to the fundraiser to replace the ambulance and get the Beatbox back up and running again. Please donate what you can, and help make sure that Beatbox DC emerges bigger and stronger than before.
No Meet the Locals Podcast this week (come on you slackers! Send me your mixes!). However, in its place here’s a real treat: a Resident Advisor podcast from none other than DC locals Beautiful Swimmers. One hour of sexy house, garage and two step bliss from the likes of R.I.P. Productions, Flørist and L.M.Y.E. Hopefully one day I’ll bring you an exclusive Meet the Locals podcast from Beautiful Swimmers. I guess it can’t hurt to ask, right?
Quick reminder: don’t forget to check the DC House Grooves Weekend Round Up Halloween Weekend 2016 Preview, featuring details of all the best events over Halloween weekend, plus advanced ticket links for all the events that have them. The best Halloween parties sell out every year, so make sure you grab your tix now so you’re not left all dressed up with nowhere to go.
Next up, I’ve got a couple of special discounts for you. First up, here’s a 25% discount link for SEQUENCE.044 with Headless Horseman [Live], Bastet, Tsurugi, Lyceum and Damon Bradley. That’s an amazing line up for the latest edition of DC’s hottest techno after hours, and Headless Horseman‘s extended live set it sure to be one for the books. Advanced tickets are strongly encouraged for this event which will sell out, so don’t sleep on this discount!
