DC House Grooves Midweek Round Up: The Best Underground House and Electronic Music Events in Washington DC Wednesday July 29

Just checking in with a quick midweek update. The big news tonight is Transit‘s Extreme House Makeover, with an great line up of local heavy hitters, featuring Rich EdwardDJ NavJoe L and Juan Zapata! That’s a huge line up for a Wednesday night in Fairfax, and if you haven’t made it out to Transit yet, this is the night to do it.

If you don’t feel like venturing out in to deepest, darkest northern VA, then Flash is your best bet. The Nü Androids crew will be staging another takeover, with Secondcity (Dirtybird) holding things down on the main floor with local support from Yomimbi, while down in the bar, the Groov Fellas crew take control open to close.

Check back tomorrow, when I may or may not have a DC House Grooves Weekend Round Up for you. In the middle of moving house right now, and I’ve got a large record collection to box up. If I get that done, I may have time to throw something together 🙂

DC House Grooves Midweek Round Up: The Best Underground House and Electronic Music Events in Washington DC Wednesday July 22

Hello DC! Andy Grant here. It’s been a few weeks since I checked in with a DC House Grooves Midweek Round Up. Lots going on in my world lately, and when there’s lots going on, something’s gotta give. I’m writing this post from my parent’s place in Royal Tunbridge Wells in the United Kingdom, the place where I first caught this house music bug way back in 1988. 27 years later I’ve still got that bug, and it only seems to be getting stronger. Starting to think it might be here to stay 🙂

So what’s good this Wednesday in Washington DC? Well, if I were in town and looking for a solid dance floor workout this Wednesday, I’d be heading straight to Flash for Nü Androids present Kill Frenzy. With Dansman on support, it’s gonna be a great night of quality jams to help you throw some midweek shapes on the dance floor.

Also worth a mention is DariusPat Lok and Seba Yuri at U Street Music Hall.

For your drum and bass fix this Thursday, head to Transit at The Auld Shebeen in Fairfax for their drum and bass special, with a solid line up of local DnB DJs. They’ll be fundraising for Ricky Varela, so head on down, donate what you can, and help out a member of our community in his time of need.

DC House Grooves Midweek Round Up: The Best Underground House and Electronic Music Events in Washington DC Wednesday June 24

If you’re ready to get your groove on this Wednedsay night in DC, looks like there are a few options to choose from!  Our top pick for tonight is Nü Androids at Flash, who this week bring Italian house giant Stefano Noferini, with support from Sunglass Sundays’ Leonardo Lee, who has flown all the way in from San Francisco for the occasion. Up on the new rooftop dance floor, our very own Andy Grant will be spinning an all vinyl set form 8pm until 12am under the warm summer night sky.

Other options for the night include RNSRooftop Retox industry night at Lost Society, with RNS delivering the deep house vibes open to close, or if drum and bass is what you’re looking for, The Blackout Tour hits U Street Music Hall, with Black Sun Empire, The Upbeats and State of Mind serving up the beats.

Out in the VA ‘burbs, the Transit crew are at it again at The Auld Shebeen in Fairfax, with Lady Shah serving up the drum and bass with full techno support from Rodd Sim, Ivan Rios and Tim Humphrey. Always a strong recommendation from us if you don’t feel like making the trek into the city.

That’s all we’ve got for this week’s Midweek Round Up. Don’t forget to check back tomorrow for the DC House Grooves Weekend Round Up. There’s a lot going on this weekend, so make sure you check out picks to help you plan your dance floor strategy.
